ADC decided to create an image archive, like AIGA. This is great for designers who want to be inspired from some of the best designing concepts.
As appears in ADC's newsletter:
The ADC Archive is a digital library in the making. Containing images and information for every winning entry since the first annual in 1921, it will hold more than 90,000 digitized pieces. Early winners include Maxfield Parrish and Edward Steichen; more recent selections include photographer Martin Parr's work in Kid's Wear Magazine and filmmaker projects for Addidas and the Gap. We are in the early phases of the project, collecting and creating digital files, compiling and editing credits, and establishing the structure of the catalog. Educators and students in the US and Canada have already shown interest in researching the archive for lectures, research projects, and books about the history of design and commercial art. The archive will be available and easily searchable online, with special research privileges for ADC members. Currently the archive includes the 86th and 85th annuals, as well as Young Guns 5. The archive will continue to grow, ideally expanding by one annual every couple of months. A later phase will focus on the history of the ADC. We are collecting photographs, transparencies and objects related to the ADC's past.
